The Red Sea.

I'm not ignoring you all!

I've just been busy drowning in the Red Sea.

The last of the Groopdealz orders go out tomorrow, and then I should probably buy some groceries for my family before they revolt.

I can't wait to show you some project ideas I've come up with!

What's On Your Mind Wednesday.

{via}

  • I had a suspicious mole removed today.
  • Fun.
  • Because I know it's not gross at all to hear that, I thought I'd share the information.
  • Spring soccer sign-ups are upon us.
  • Save me.
  • Because this season, Captain wants to play too.
  • Two kids.
  • Two different teams.
  • Two practices a week {each}.
  • And the grand finale of a game per week {each} for two months.
  • Yay soccer!
  • {says the good mom.}
  • Captain randomly says today, "haha! I'm Chaos!"
  • Like that's his name.
  • But really it's a perfect fit, so I had a good laugh.
  • To myself.
  • I also had a lovely time trying to explain the idea of space to him today.
  • And why rocket ships aren't owned by every one.
  • And if there are really aliens.
  • 5 is fun.
  • Or stressful, because I'm never prepared for the questions 5 year olds ask.
  • My mom didn't hear from me all weekend, and I didn't respond to her texts either.
  • So, she called me at 8:30 Monday morning, and said, "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!"
  • Then proceeded to tell me that since she hadn't heard from me that she was worried we all had...
  • CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.
  • I'm not sure where my paranoia about random shit comes from...
  • Anyone?
  • Maybe I should seek a psychologists help to figure out the giant mystery.

Happy hump day!

Buttoned Up.

I bought this lampshade from Target several months ago. It was on clearance for $3.74, and I thought it would be perfect for my office.

I've stared at it for a few months, and every time, all I could think was that those flower centers {I don't know their scientific name, whoops} needed something.

So, a couple weeks ago, I decided on the perfect {free!} solution.

I pulled out my little sewing kit. I have no clue why I have one, I've never sewn anything.

It's a handy little place to keep all the spare buttons that come with clothes though, so I gathered them all up.

I plugged in my hot glue gun, and then just started gluing the buttons to the center of each flower.

I put the lamp back together, and we were good to go!

Easy project, and I love the change!

Knock-Off.

I love Pottery Barn. I haven't come across a person who doesn't yet.

I love getting their catalogs, they are full of awesomeness {that almost never matches my budget}, but they all have so many decorative extras in their catalog to inspire decor!

I found these lovelies in the last catalog I got from them, and I was in love.

So, when I finally had a second to browse some stores, I picked up this glass vase {?} at TJ Maxx for $3.99.

To get started, I printed off some random things to make this project work. Some song lyrics, some sheet music, a Bible verse, the Declaration of Independence, but honestly, after doing this project, I'll tell you, it doesn't matter if your 3 year old sits down at your computer and randomly types things in a cool font. It does not matter.

Next up, I heated up a big pot of water, and dunked some tea bags.

Growing up, my mom tea-stained everything. EVERYTHING. Doilies, fabric, tablecloths, curtains, etc... So, tea-staining things is in my blood.

Ha!

So, I let my water cool to a tolerable temperature for my fingers, and then you just take your paper, and just dunk it on in, and let it hang out.

I waited between like 30 seconds, and a couple of minutes, and then pulled my papers out. I laid them flat on a piece of wax paper to dry out.

After I finished all of my papers, and had them drying in front of a fan, I pulled out these letter blocks.

My mom gave me these years ago. They were some old Christmas decor that she had {they spell out "Christmas", "Noel" "Joy"}, and didn't want anymore. I used them for a few years, but I thought I would try to change them up, and find new uses for them.

So, I grabbed a couple of them, and painted one in a shade of greenish blue, and then left the red ones red. After the greenish/blue one dried, I slapped some antiquing gel on both of them, and then did a quick dry wipe until I liked the look {as usual}.

Next up, my papers were dry, so I gathered them up to get started on rolling them up.

I rolled them up, and tied some with twine, and some with some dark brown string. I also cut some of the papers down to have different sizes.

After I rolled and tied all of them, I added the blocks, and the paper rolls to the vase.

I'm pretty excited about my $3.99 knock off!

What's On Your Mind Wednesday.

{via}

  • Last week was fun.
  • Bub got strep for the first time since he had his tonsils out in July.
  • It was bad. Reeeaall bad.
  • The pediatrician was convinced by his appearance and behavior that he had the flu.
  • Until she saw his throat.
  • Fun.
  • And then Captain had it by Saturday.
  • More fun.
  • But we are all here and healthy now, and I'm thankful.
  • I got some awesomeness in the mail today.
  • They made my day.
  • Completely.
  • If you need a business card holder, clutch, pillow covers, etc! Go see Alison! She's amazing!
  • The Hub's and me will celebrate our 7th anniversary in 18 days.
  • It's not like I'm counting down to that day or anything...
  • Actually, I am counting down.
  • Desperately counting down.
  • Because I NEED A FREAKING REAL DATE NIGHT.
  • Not the pretend date night we had a couple weeks ago.
  • I love my kids more than anything, but me and the Hub's need a night out on the town together.
  • I already have the baby-sitter scheduled.
  • Hopefully it all pans out.
  • The Hub's and I got rid of Dish over the weekend.
  • I'm pretty excited, despite my TV loving ways.
  • The downside is that I have no "menu".
  • Nothing to keep me straight on what shows come on when, and what time.
  • Which makes me feel like I need to write down a TV schedule.
  • Yep.
  • Nerdy.
  • TV watchin nerd.
  • I went to Hobby Lobby today, and picked up some shop supplies, but also, Better Homes and Garden "Special Interest Publications" Mexican.
  • 106 "Authentic" Recipes.
  • Look out, I've got big plans for tonight.

Happy Hump Day!

{Heart} Day Bouquet!

Next up on my list of Valentine's projects to tackle was a little heart bouquet I've been wanting to make.

I started with these supplies that I picked up at Michael's. The hearts were on clearance for dirt cheap, and I used a 40% coupon on the floral wire.

I started with painting the hearts in various Valentine-y colors.

After they had dried, I sanded them because, of course I would! I can't like the too perfect painted look.

Next up, I grabbed this tool from the Hub's work bench to cut the floral wire into the lengths I wanted... I don't know what this tool is called, and I forgot to ask. All I know is that it did a freaking awesome job for me.

After all the pieces were cut to the right lengths, I hot glued the hearts to them like so.

And kept gluing until I had all of these.

Next up, I grabbed a rubber band to keep them all together, and facing the right direction.

For the vase for my bouquet, I went out to my garage and hunted down this spray painted Frappuccino bottle that I made a couple of years ago.

I took the bow off, turned the bottle around, and then put the hearts in it. The great thing about the flower wire is that it's bendable, so it was easy to get the bouquet to look how I wanted.

The last step was that I tied on a bow with my twine.
