What's On Your Mind Wednesday.

  • I sat on the ground at Bub's soccer practice on Monday.
  • Now I have bug bites on both of my buthigh's
  • Do you know what buthigh's are?
  • It's a real word in the urban dictionary.
  • It's the space that's not butt, but not quite the back of your thighs.
  • So yeah, I have multiple bug bites on my buthigh's.
  • When I scratch, it looks like I'm scratching my butt.
  • Since we switched the boys' to the bunk bed's, they get up multiple times a night.
  • The middle of the night.
  • So, it's like I have infants again.
  • I ALREADY PAID MY "NO-SLEEPING-THROUGH-THE-NIGHT" DUES.
  • For two years straight.
  • And now, it's back.
  • Imagine how exciting that is.
  • I think the lack of REM cycles is making me crazy.
  • It's less than a week until my beloved Pumpkin Spice makes it's return.
  • I think I will celebrate with a Venti, and also by purchasing yoga pants.
  • Even though it's still a million degrees outside.
  • I'm willing it to cool down.
  • When a policeman waves you through a red-light, it feels like a trick.
  • Like he wants to see if you'll fall for his wave.
  • Then he'll hop in his car and pull you over.
  • And ticket you.
  • My 4 year old told me he doesn't like sharing at school.
  • He says, "because I don't want to make any more friends Momma!"
  • Oh boy.
  • Well, that's a way to make that happen.
  • Smart cookie.
  • It thrills me that you all are loving the giveaway items!
  • Like, a lot.
Happy Hump Day.

Fall Soccer.

{via}

Fall soccer practice starts tonight.

I'm still trying to come to terms with it, because it just means even later bedtimes for my {naturally} early risers.

When I say I'm trying to "come to terms with it", I mean I've been pouting about it all day, and now I have to quit pouting, and actually go do the soccer mom practice thing.

I'm tired.

Tomorrow I have a freaking awesome giveaway for you all.

I think you'll love it. Like a lot.

See you tomorrow.

Steeler Nation.

Remember the soccer ball project?

Well, I had one circle plaque left from the one's I picked up at Home Depot on clearance for a buck.

Since the first circle was for Bub, I wanted this one to be for Captain. He told me that he wanted it to be "Steelers".

{SO PROUD.}

Now that their room is almost ready to start hanging stuff up on the walls, I finally got to Captain's circle plaque.

Here's what I started with.

I painted it black. After that, I sanded the edges of the whole circle to give it a "frame".

Next, I printed out all my vinyl on all the different colors, and applied it to the circle.

And here's how it turned out!

I cannot wait to hang it up in their room!

Steeler Nation baby!!!

What's On Your Mind Wednesday.

  • I made Mexican for dinner. Who's surprised by this?
  • You should see the weeds growing outside my front window.
  • I'm not pulling them in protest of the heat.
  • My neighbor's probably cuss about our weeds every day.
  • I don't care.
  • It's HOT.
  • I need a pedicure.
  • You would think I would have time to get a pedicure now that school's back.
  • You'd be wrong.
  • I did manage to get my hair cut on Saturday.
  • It was the first cut I've had since before summer started.
  • I had the Walton's on while I was working on orders today.
  • Good night, John Boy.
  • Good night, Elizabeth.
  • ....
  • Ahh the good 'ole days of watching the Walton's.
  • Before Dawson's Creek.
  • I have had high high standards for the TV watching in my life.
  • Oh well, I redeem myself with the simple fact that I think Modern Family is the best show ever.
  • You cannot disagree. That is just pure fact.
  • The whole bunk-bed sleeping situation hasn't improved yet.
  • It's so fun.
  • SO fun.
  • Oh, that whole running nonsense that I was considering last week?
  • Over it.
  • I'm going to stick with EA Active on the Wii.
  • And some DVD pilates.
  • Those are more my speed than running 9 miles.
  • Outdoors.
  • Running 9 miles outdoors.
  • Not happening.
  • Can you believe how close we are to September?

The Sea of Paper.

In a continued effort to be {somewhat} organized for the new school year. I decided to tackle the paper problem.

For the past two years, I have been gathering stacks of school papers.

For the first 3-4 months of my oldest being in pre-pre-K (a 3 year old preschool program), I was a scrapbooking maniac. Then, I was over it. So, for the past couple of years I've been stacking school papers in various piles, and then putting those piles in various places.

I have a stack in a box in my closet. I have a stack in my driver's side door from last school year {don't judge}. I have a stack {?} on my desk. And then I have this pitiful attempt at containing the madness.

So, I went to Target and got these.

I slapped the boys' names {in vinyl of course!} on these babies, and then added some hanging files.

I haven't finished tackling the previous school year's paper piles yet. I'm slowly getting it done though.

In other news...

My desk looked like this Sunday morning.

Then, it looked like this.

But now the floor looks like this.

Whoops.

What can I say? Organization is obviously not my strong point.

The good news is that my desk is now in my new office or workspace, or whatever you want to call it! I can't wait to finish it, and show you all pics!

Thursday Thoughts.

  • I had a project in the works today, but I didn't get it done in time to post it.
  • Bummer.
  • So you get this.
  • The crap on my mind.
  • No word on the results yet.
  • This morning I had a lovely morning out and about.
  • Starbucks.
  • Target.
  • Hobby Lobby.
  • The stuff of dreams, right?!
  • It was sooo... perfect.
  • I've been slightly obsessed with watching Dawson's Creek lately.
  • Love.
  • I know it's ridiculous, but I freaking love it.
  • The barista at Starbucks told me Pumpkin Spice latte's make their return September 6.
  • Guess where I'll be September 6?
  • Yesterday I told you that I wish I was a runner.
  • That my body is not made for running.
  • And then this morning, a friend asked if I would want to be her running partner.
  • She's training for a 15K.
  • Uh...
  • I told her I would think about it.
  • Half of me wants to do it.
  • The other half...
  • Knows my body.
  • My shins freaking hurt when I run.
  • My years of gymnastics, and their effect on my (not made for gymnastics) body.
  • My neck and back stuff that make a chiropractor necessary every 3-4 weeks.
  • What to do.
  • I made Mexican for dinner.
  • It was the first time since Sunday.
  • Which means it had been too long since we'd had Mexican.
  • And lastly.
  • Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday.
  • I think.

What's On Your Mind Wednesday.

via

  • We're waiting on some very important blood test results from my little Captain.
  • I'm trying to distract myself from the "what if's" of the worst case scenarios.
  • Uh, that's hard.
  • Like real hard.
  • We've had pizza delivery twice this week.
  • Whoops.
  • Don't judge.
  • They have some smokin good deals going on, and I love when other people cook for me.
  • You know my fantasy 1st day of freedom I've talked about for weeks?
  • Didn't happen.
  • I had too much other crap to do.
  • So tomorrow, I've declared I'm taking the morning "off".
  • Guess where I'll be?
  • :)
  • This is what I want to know...
  • Why, when you're elderly, or elderly-ish, do you need such a small amount of sleep?
  • Why can't that be the case when you have kids under 18 in the house?
  • That's so backwards.
  • I want to go shopping.
  • But for hoodies and yoga pants.
  • Not shorts and tank tops.
  • So, right now I don't shop.
  • In protest of this stupid weather.
  • Also, my hair looks like crap every single day.
  • In case you were wondering.
  • I wish I was a runner.
  • My body is not built for running.
  • Like at all.
  • Thanks a lot genetics.
  • Oh well, I'm going to go eat the pizza that's for dinner tonight.

Bunk Beds.

My hubby is a bad ass.

He used the plans from Ana White, and built this super sturdy, perfect bunk bed set.

Don't mind the wall edges. I'm not as much of a bad ass as the hub's, so the wall's aren't finished yet, and the beds aren't painted.

Here are the happy little boys on their new bunk beds.

Don't let those grins fool you. At bedtime, the smiles disappeared, and it all turned into a giant mess.

They ended up back in separate rooms last night.

Tonight is round 2. So far, they've been up twice.

Oh boy.

{Sponsor Love!} Keepin It Thrifty!

Hello all you wonderful Bubblewrapp'd readers, I'm Andrea,
I have a crafty blog called Keepin It Thrifty.

Keepin It Thrifty is my collection of DIY, thrifty fashions, Goodwill finds, & anything thrifty.

Stop by and take a look, I love meeting new thrifty people. :)

Andrea asked me a few questions, here ya go! Here are the answers!

1. Tell us about yourself, your shop and/or blog.

I started Keepin It Thrifty a little less than a year ago, just as a place to show off all the crafts I was making. Little did I know that it would grow and turn into something wonderful. I never imagined that it would be like this. I blog to inspire. Simple as that, I love helping people and teaching them new things. I recently just married my best friend in May. I was so excited to be able to blog and share with others this special time in our life. My husband and I both work for the USPS. I work 3rd shift at the processing plant, it's not my dream job as a fashion designer but it's a good job and I'm very thankful to have it! We live in the wonderful state of North Carolina, where we get to enjoy hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking on the weekends!

2. What inspires you?

Hmm... What inspires me? EVERYTHING. Seriously, I look at things in a million different ways.

Others inspire me, fashion designers make me want to create beautiful things. Crafters make me wanna make the best craft I've ever made. Missionaries make me want to go save the world and tell others about Jesus. See, I told you everyone inspires me! I just want to make the world a better place.

3. What are some of your favorite blogs?

I love Bubblewrapp'd. Her What's On My Mind Wednesday always makes me smile.

A few others are Tatortots and Jello, Young House Love, Meet Virginia, Ruche.

4. How do you like your coffee?

I could drink coffee 24/7. I LOVE COFFEE! hahaha and you bet this coffee lover has been to Seattle, WA. OMG I was in heaven! A Starbucks on every. single. corner. I do like Starbucks when we're away from home, but at our house we drink Folgers Black Silk, with sugar, and caramel macchiato creamer.

5. Favorite TV show?

At our house HGTV is on all day long. I love every single show. I also love TrueBlood on HBO, Grey's Anatomy, Wipeout, Tosh.0, & Design Star.

6. Summer or winter?

I love summer! Tank tops, pool days, rainbow flip flops, short shorts, aaahhhh LOVE. But my favorite is fall! I'm very cold natured, and fall is beautiful and wonderful here in NC. October is my b-day so why wouldn't I love fall? :)

7. Pick one word to describe yourself.

Just one? THRIFTY!

Everything about my life is thrifty. If it's not on sale I will not buy it.

I have always been this way. I love shopping at Goodwill and thrift stores, I love the thrill of how much $$ I save. It blows me away to see that someone will pay $1000+ for a outfit, or $200 for a pair of jeans!

I hope you stop by and take a look at my blog I LOVE meeting new people.

What's On Your Mind Wednesday.

via

  • Our dog is a German Shorthaired Pointer.
  • We rescued her when she was 8 months old, so we never saw her as a little puppy.
  • I saw this picture on Pinterest, and freaked out with the cuteness of it.
  • I think this is what our pup looked like when she was little.
  • Oh my cute.
  • It's 67 degrees here right now.
  • That is miraculous in case you were wondering.
  • I was starting to think that no temperature below HELL existed.
  • It started storming like crazy at 3 in the morning.
  • So I've been up since 3 in the morning.
  • Tomorrow is the big day.
  • You know, the day where my sanity begins to return.
  • School is starting.
  • Yay!!!!!!!!!
  • Their constant fighting and whining has made it impossible for me to be sad about it at all.
  • Impossible.
  • SCHOOL IS STARTING!!!
  • Remember, I love my kids more than anything.
  • BUT OH MY GOSH THE FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Turns out Pre-K's first day is just "pretend".
  • 20 minutes of hanging out in the class.
  • Friday is only 1 hour.
  • Monday it's ON.
  • Guess what I'm doing Monday morning?
  • Target, Starbucks, probably lots of weird smiling.
  • I can't wait for Modern Family to come back on.
  • I've been wearing out the season 1 dvd's all summer.
  • It is my favorite show of all time.
  • I need a haircut so bad.
  • The eternal dilemma...
  • Do I just get a trim, and keep *trying* to grow it out, or chop it off?
  • Exciting stuff is on my mind today as you can tell.
Happy Hump Day!

Hang It Up!

School starts Thursday (HALLELUJAH).

So, I've been trying to get a little bit of organization going on before that happens.

Project number one was to get some kind of hook station set up for the backpacks. We come into the house through the garage door the majority of the time, so I wanted to put it as close to that door as possible.

Remember the dresser we picked up for the boys? Well, I started with one of the doors that we had taken off of the dresser.

I took all the hardware off, including the knob.

My next step was to drill a hole off to one side where I would reposition the knob. Then I put the knob back in in it's new place.

Then I was supposed to drill the second hole for the other knob, but my drill battery had to be charged, so I went ahead and attached the saw tooth hangers on the back for hanging this up.

By then my drill's battery had charged just enough to finish drilling the second hole for the knob that I removed from the other door that we removed from the dresser.

At this point, I printed off some vinyl with the wording that I wanted for this project.

If you don't have a machine to cut vinyl, you could use a stencil and glass paint, and do the same thing that way, or you could order vinyl from a company that does that sort of thing.

Next, I painted a clothespin black (to match the vinyl I chose). Then, I hot glued it into the middle of the door, where the original placement for the knob was. Time to hang it up!

This is the view down the hallway, and that's the garage door directly in the center.

It turned out exactly as I had hoped! This is a major organizational improvement for the new school year!
